When you eat junk, you feel like junk. Pretty simple really, but sometimes I can be a little slow. Since we finished the Whole 30 we have been primarily sticking with a paleo style diet, but we have tried adding some non-paleo items into our meals to see how we react. Not that we didn’t already have a good idea of how some of the foods would affect us, but sometimes experience is the best teacher.
So we tried them. Bread, mostly in the form of buns is the biggest culprit. Surely that won’t be that bad. Wrong. We’ve tried it in different forms and always get the same result. We enjoy it while we are eating it, but within a matter of a couple hours we feel it. Grumblings in the belly, followed by a total crash. No energy and a desire to go to bed by 8:00 pm. We tried it again on Friday — not sure why honestly. But it was convenient and easy. Same action = same results. We got it. We get it! When you eat junk you feel like junk. Lesson learned – again.
Julie and I have been talking about doing another Whole 30 because we were feeling so much better right after the first one, and because the second one won’t be nearly as hard since we have stuck to a mostly clean diet (except for the few experiments). Anyone want to join us on this next one?
