Hiking Pikes Peak – Julie’s Crazy Idea!

Julie is hiking Pikes Peak

It turns out that where the Abel family is concerned, Jeff is not the only one allowed to be crazy. This Friday I am fulfilling a fifteen year dream. A dream I’ve had since moving to CO. I’m hiking Pikes Peak, my first fourteener, as they like to say in CO.

Since getting healthy and changing our diet thanks to Ed’s Gym, for once in my life I think l could actually make it all the way to the top. For years I have looked at this big beautiful mound of dirt and rock to the west and dreamed of climbing it. I’ve been training physically for a while, and this week I have upped my activity to prepare me for the trek. My good friend and mountaineering expert Deb Rusch will be dragging my butt to the top helping me out to make sure my climb is a success.

Many of you have done crazy things like this in your lives. I’m interesed to hear how you emotionally, physical and mentally prepared. Why don’t you share your insights? I might use some of your ideas on Friday.
